Reflections on Leadership, Hope, and Becoming

Life has been my greatest teacher.

Over the years, I’ve learned lessons in boardrooms and hospital rooms, through leadership and loss, family and faith, setbacks and extraordinary moments of joy. My blogs are where I share those lessons.

Some reflections are personal. Others are practical. Many begin with an ordinary moment that becomes something much bigger. Together, they explore leadership, relationships, resilience, purpose, and what it means to keep showing up when life doesn’t go as planned.

My hope is simple: that each post leaves you seeing yourself—and perhaps the world around you—a little differently.

The Most Powerful Tool I Carry With Me Everywhere

We take roughly 20,000 breaths every day.And most of us rarely think about a single one of them. I certainly didn’t. But for almost two years, I’ve been doing something consciously and intentionally that has quite literally changed my life. I breathe. Yes, I know. I was doing that before. Unicorns, Watermelon Toothpaste & a Lesson in Belonging

But, being his parents, we naturally came up with the most flattering explanation possible. Perhaps he was deeply spiritual.Perhaps he was an old […]

The Four-Letter Word That Can Save a Relationship

We’ve all been there. Your partner says something that feels unfair. A colleague challenges your point of view. Someone gives you feedback you don’t particularly want to hear. And while they are still talking, you are no longer listening. You are preparing your defence.Gathering your evidence.Calling your imaginary witnesses.Basically building a legal case worthy of […]

Don’t Let Tomorrow Steal Today

Lately, I’ve been carrying something heavy. Several people I care deeply about in the myeloma and cancer community have experienced significant setbacks in their health. Over the years, these relationships have become much more than shared diagnoses and treatment plans. We’ve celebrated good news together. We’ve worried together. We’ve learned a new language together: treatments, […]

Making Room for Love

For the past few weeks, Nagib and I have been working on a very important – and fun – project. We created a grandkids’ room. Not a guest room where the grandkids happen to sleep. Their room. There’s a bunk bed – double on the bottom, single on top. There are drawers waiting to be filled, […]
