A Story of Inspiration, Resilience and Courage

There are certain moments in my life that have left an indelible impression. Like when I held Nagib’s hand for the first time. When I saw Shayne for the first time and watched with wonder as he grabbed my hand with his little fingers. When I saw Sabrina, exquisite and elegant, in her wedding dress. And last week, when I held my book, Choosing Hope: 1 Woman. 3 Cancers. for the first time.

The book for me represents so much.  It is a story of my journey – and my family’s journey – through 3 life-threatening cancers. It is also a culmination of a lifelong dream to become an author. And it is a symbol of what you can achieve even when life throws curveball after curveball on your path.

The cherry on top was when CBC selected Choosing Hope as one of 40 works of Canadian non-fiction to watch for in spring 2020!

The plan was to formally launch the book at a Toronto Lit up event at The Princess Margaret Cancer Centre on April 23rd, followed by book signings in Montreal on April 25th and 26th and at the Indigo bookstore at Mt. Sinai Hospital on May 21st. Also in the works was an event at The Ismaili Centre, Toronto, and book signings across Canada. Alas, it was not to be as all these events have been postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and the books could not be printed for general sale.

Given the current situation, my publishers, Mawenzi House Publishers, have come up with a promotion. If you pre-order the print title of Choosing Hope directly from their website before April 23, 2020, Mawenzi House will give you a 20% discount on the book AND send you the eBook the very next day for free so that you can get a head start on reading the book!

You can pre-order the book from Mawenzi House at: https://www.mawenzihouse.com/product/choosing-hope/. Make sure to enter the promo code STAYHOME at check-out to get the 20% discount.

If you had previously pre-ordered Choosing Hope through Amazon or Indigo, just email a photo of your receipt to marketing@mawenzihouse.com, and they will email you the eBook at no cost while you wait for the delivery of the print version (the 20% rebate from Mawenzi House does not apply to Amazon or Indigo purchases).

It is a bit scary to imagine people reading the book after it took 3 years to birth it. I am feeling anxious, excited, nervous, eager, stoked and mostly hopeful that you will love it!

    Not available on Amazon.ca

Hi Zahir – – Thanks so much for letting me know. I went to the Amazon link and saw what you saw. I’ve spoken to the publishers because I know many people had pre-ordered the book through Amazon. Unfortunately, only 100 books have been printed so far and the printers are now closed (non essential service). In the meantime, if you want to read the book, you can pre-order it through Mawenzihouse.com, and they will send you the ebook (not available on Amazon) for free. Mawenzi has a 20% discount on the book until April 23 (code: stayhome). Hope this helps!

Muni, I have read all your well written and most interesting blogs. You are a good speaker and presenter. I look forward to reading your book describing all the experiences you have gone through. It is hard to find a family which has not gone through cancer. I’m sure that it will help all those who are going through cancer treatments, their families and the general public. AR
